Campari Soda: My Go-To

January 19, 2016

Did you know that in Italy, you can buy Campari Soda pre-made in a single serve bottle? Yep, I saw it when I went to Eataly and was totally jealous. Here in Canada, we have to make our Campari Soda the old fashioned way (the horror!). So I’m here to share my go-to drink with you.
When people ask me what I’m drinking, 9 times out of 10 my response will either be Campari Soda or Aperol Spritz.
Campari falls in the aperitif category, and Italians will drink it before a meal to stimulate the appetite. Campari is also quite dry and bitter in flavour, but that’s what I love about it! It definitely took me awhile to get acquired with the taste, but now you can’t keep me away.
So next time you’re waiting for dinner and wondering what to drink, try a Campari Soda out!  Trust me, this drink is so simple to make (it only contains 2 ingredients!), it will take you seconds to whip up!
Now what can we do about getting those single serve bottles sold in Canada?!

Ingredients
  1. 3 cubes of ice
  2. campari
  3. club soda
  4. half an orange slice
Instructions
  1. Add ice cubes to your glass. I like to add the ice first so I have a good idea of how much space I have left in the glass. Then fill about 1/3 of the glass with Campari. Then fill the rest of the glass with club soda. You can adjust the proportions to suit your taste, but a 1/3 campari and 2/3 club soda is a general rule of thumb I like to follow.
  2. Add the half orange slice right in the glass. I find the orange adds a nice hint of freshness to the drink.
  3. Drink, and enjoy!
